Lest We Forget

Remembrance Day at The Country Day School has always been a time where faculty and staff in the Junior School and Middle/Senior Schools come together to pay respect to our fallen soldiers and honour the peacekeeping efforts of today.
Each year we have celebrated slightly differently, usually integrating performances and elements from our Drama, Music and Social Science Departments, who pour a great deal of thought and creativity into the act of remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

While once again COVID prevented us from physically gathering in the Paul C. Duckett Theatre again this year, we continued to honour this annual tradition as a school in our own unique way.

Our school came together “virtually” as we watched both the Junior School and Middle/Senior School video celebrations that some of our students, faculty and staff spent hours thoughtfully preparing.

If you have not already viewed these, we encourage you to do so.

Please feel free to share with grandparents and family members as well.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
