MS/SS Students are Supporting Holiday Heroes Toy Drive this Giving Season

This holiday season, both our  Middle and Senior Schools are partnering with the York Region Police to help raise donations in support of their 25th annual “Holiday Heroes Toy Drive''. This drive will be running from December 3rd to December 16th in the Middle School and from December 3rd to 10th in the Senior School.
Middle School (December 3rd-16th)
Students are asked to bring specific items, ranging from toys to gift cards, based on which House they belong to.

In partnering with the Holiday Heroes campaign, students are supporting Victim Services of York Region and The Salvation Army in helping change the lives of families in our community who have come into hard times.

Over the next few weeks, each Middle School house will be responsible for bringing in much-needed items to support this campaign. Please see below for who and what each house is responsible for.

Ross: will be raising donations for infants and toddlers. Examples of items include diapers, wipes, formula, food pouches, blankets, and developmental games.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
