Did you know that the CDS campus is situated on 100 acres of beautiful property, and includes approximately 2.5 km of walking trails that meander through wetlands behind the school? Fondly known as "The Back 40", this property plays an integral role in our Outdoor Ed curriculum, x-country running, snowshoeing and mountain biking programs, and our overall wellness and country feel!
Please join members of our Parent Association and Head of School John Liggett on Friday, October 13th, for a walk through the Back 40. The walk will take place from 9:00-10:00 AM, followed by hot chocolate and conversation.
The outdoor portion of the campus is spectacular, especially in the fall, and we would like to take this opportunity to invite members of our parent community to join us to explore these grounds, meet other parents and connect with our CDS Parent Association.
The walk will begin from the Senior School entrance at 9:00 AM. Please dress for the weather and wear appropriate footwear, as the paths can be quite damp this time of year. No need to RSVP, and feel free to bring a friend.
CDS wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. For thousands of years, these have been the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We also recognize the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and the Haudenosaunee peoples who also shared this land. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for these lands and waters for future generations.
