Mascot Monday was Cyclonic!

As you know, the CDS mascot - Storm the Cyclone - won the Toronto private school top mascot competition for 2023 last week in a heated final round against Branksome Hall and Crescent School. Thank you for voting in both rounds - we could not have done it without the enthusiastic support of our community.

In celebration of this accomplishment, Monday was declared Mascot Monday and was a full school Jersey Day. Students wore their favourite jersey or shirt representing the teams of one of the four mascots participating in our celebrations: Toronto Raptors, Blue Jays, Maple Leafs or CDS Cyclones.

The Toronto Raptor’s Raptor and Maple Leaf’s Carlton (the Blue Jay’s Ace was unable to make it at the last minute) joined our winning Storm the Cyclone for a CYCLONIC Student Pep Rally in the Junior School and walk through celebration with our Middle and Senior School students! It was a day we won’t soon forget. Watch the video here.

Go Cyclones!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
