Terry Fox Day Highlights

Students and faculty/staff ran and walked throughout the school’s extensive trail system with the Junior School run/walking a shorter loop for 30 minutes and the Middle/Senior School students run/walking a longer loop that included a colour run, foam, army crawl and tire areas, and slip and slide followed by some intense House competition events on Hawksworth Field. The CDS mascot, Storm the Cyclone, was on top of the world having won this year’s Toronto best mascot award and cheered students on every step of the way.
CDS spirit was soaring on the Back 40 on Friday as we ran for Terry and all our loved ones who have been affected by cancer. We will continue to keep Terry's legacy and wish to raise money and awareness for cancer research alive as well. Over the past 32 years, CDS has raised $541,683.94 for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
