Success at the Ontario Band Festival and Musicfest Regionals
CDS students made beautiful music at the Ontario Band Festival, February 8-13! The hours and hours of rehearsal time and preparation cannot be overstated, and the hard work certainly paid off with these outstanding results...

Symphonic Band - Silver and an award for outstanding percussion performance

Middle School Band - Silver

Grade 6 Band - Silver Plus
(Conductors, Ms. Promane and Mr. Arrigo)
It should be noted that the Grade 6 Band also received the ‘Rising Star Award’ which is awarded to only 2 bands at the Festival out of 153 bands! Ms. Promane received an invitation to the Beginning Band Conductor's Symposium this fall.
A few days after the Festival, the jazz bands went to the Musicfest regionals at York University on Tuesday, February 16th. Star Eyes, conducted by Mr. Arrigo, received a Gold and an invitation to the Nationals!

Land Acknowledgment
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
