Tara Stipec has been a student at The Country Day School for the past four years.
The Grade 12 student from Aurora is a member of the Senior Girls’ Basketball team and was awarded MIP last year. She also plays on the Senior Girls’ Softball team and was voted Most Sportsmanlike Player last spring.
An all around athlete, Tara plays club sports as well, including Field Hockey for the Aurora Dolphins. Last year her team won a Gold medal in the Ontario Summer Games. Tara is also a swim instructor for the Town of Aurora.
When not competing on the playing fields, Tara is a Student Council Member, serving as a grade representative for the past two years, and an active member of the Drama program at CDS. She most recently performed in the role of Josephine “Old Ma” Strong in Urinetown! The Musical and was an assistant stage manager for The Crucible.
“Tara is an amazing role model,” says her coach Ms. Catie Ferguson. “She works hard to improve her skills and has come a long way as an athlete on our basketball team over the last couple of years. She always has a positive attitude and balances her busy school and outside of school life incredibly well.”
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
