Yesterday, professional actress and singer Meher Pavri visited Ms. Alexander-Lui’s Middle and Senior Vocal Music classes to perform for students, workshop some of their pieces, and answer questions about careers in the arts.

Meher Pavri is a Parsi-Canadian soprano from London, Ontario, known for her work in opera, musical theatre, theatre, and film/television. Her career highlights include performing as Maria in West Side Story (LOT, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Niagara Symphony Orchestra); appearing as a soloist with Soulpepper Theatre, most recently in 88 Keys; and creating roles in the world premiere of The Overcoat, A Musical Tailoring (CanStage, Tapestry Opera, Vancouver Opera). She has also appeared in Mozart’s Idomeneo (Opera Atelier), Mahabharata (Shaw Festival), and the Canadian premiere of Bend It Like Beckham: The Musical (Starvox).
Meher has sung the national anthems at NBA Raptors games, performed in the Dora Award–winning Messiah with Against the Grain Theatre, and appeared in films and TV shows such as Pixels, Royally Wrapped for Christmas, Private Eyes, and Coroner. She also teaches music classes and is passionate about early childhood music education.

Her visit left students inspired by her artistry, warmth, and encouragement to pursue their passions - wherever their creative journeys may lead.

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
