Don't Miss Portraits 2024–25: A Must-See Showcase of Student Talent
CDS’s Arts & Literary publication, Portraits, is hot off the press and features a wonderful array of Middle School and Senior School student artwork, poetry and writing submissions from close to 50 students, all artfully presented in a student-designed magazine format.
This year’s editor, graduating student Angelina Cai ‘25, helped choose this year’s theme – inspired by the Rorschach inkblot – which in her words, “is all about seeing different perspectives, in both the symmetry and the ink. The fun thing about anthologies is that they bring creative works together for an audience to see and interpret and celebrate.”
Sarah Williams and Michael Lesiuk, Faculty Advisors for the Middle/Senior School publication, are thrilled with the breadth and quality of this year’s publication. “Art and creative writing are thriving here at CDS and this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the breadth of talent we have in these two divisions,” stated Ms. Williams.
The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
Founded in 1972, The Country Day School is a co-educational private school offering programs in JK-12 and located on 100 acres north of Toronto in King.
