Middle School Renovation

Exciting news! Over the summer, CDS will begin a two- summer renovation and refreshing of the Middle School hallways.

A few years ago, as CDS was beginning to build the new Junior School addition, we refreshed all of the Junior School hallways so that would have a fresh and consistent appearance.
This summer we will begin the same rejuvenation of our Middle School hallways. Spread over two summers, CDS will remove the worn carpet and replace with clean tile that matches the rest of the school. We will also create a number of "cottages" in the main hallway that will provide mini- gathering spaces for our Middle School students. Overall, the hallway will receive new wall treatments as well as new lockers which should brighten and freshen up the Middle School significantly.

The following summer, phase 2 of the project will include installing new skylights down the hallways which will provide significantly more natural light to the entire space.

This renovation, a year in the planning, is one of the reasons we restricted our CDS Summer Camp to our own community and shortened the weeks, as the Middle School will be completely inaccessible for the rest of the summer.

We can't wait for our new Middle School families to experience this new refreshed space next year!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
