Bark Lake Prepares Grade 6 Leaders

On September 28, the Grade 6 classes travelled to Bark Lake to take part in the annual Bark Lake Leadership Convention. Over the two day trip, they were asked to challenge themselves and each other through a variety of leadership tasks and initiative games.
Not surprisingly, this year’s group of Grade 6s took this challenge head on. They cooperated, compromised and worked together. They cheered each other on, motivated each other and picked each other up. They reflected on their teamwork skills, as well as what unique qualities they each bring to the group.

They also had a lot of fun climbing, exploring and building shelters. They were able to roast marshmallows, drop eggs and try their hand at team skiing.

This trip was an amazing experience for everyone. The students walked away with the knowledge and confidence that they are going to have an incredible year being the leaders of the Junior School!

Land Acknowledgment

The Country Day School wishes to recognize and acknowledge the land on which the school operates. Our nearest Indigenous Nations are now the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. The Dish with One Spoon Wampum covenant is often cited as an example of the shared responsibility for caring for these lands among the Huron-Wendat, Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples who would call these their traditional territories. CDS respects the relationship with these lands and recognizes that our connection to this land can be strengthened by our continued relationship with all First Nations, by acknowledging our shared responsibility to respect and care for the land and waters for future generations.
