Jaekwan Jung

Interim Head of Music
How do you continue learning in your life? What is your professional passion?
I am a music educator, and I continue learning in my life by constantly reflecting and thinking about what I can improve upon. For example, after teaching at CDS for four years, I realized I tended to focus solely on the music part of my profession. Therefore, in 2021, I finished my Masters of Education in order to improve wholly as an educator.

What is one of your favourite interactions with students?
My favourite interaction with students is when we make music together. Sometimes, you do not have to say anything. It is the feeling when you don’t need to explain with words, but you know you connected with students through music.

Favourite Thing about Working at CDS:
My favourite part about working at CDS is the ongoing student-teacher relationship I have developed with our students. It is truly amazing to see them grow from Grade 5 students just starting on an instrument to making beautiful music as Grade 12s. It is a pure joy to be part of their musical journey.
